Lawrence Waste Services Announces Christmas Tree Pickup - January 11-15 (Early morning)

DPW would like to remind residents that Lawrence Waste Services will pick up Christmas trees from January 11- 15 (on your normally scheduled trash day). Please ensure that all lights and decorations are removed before placing your tree curbside. Please refer to the Curbside Chronicle for more information.

UPDATE: We recently learned from Lawrence Waste Services that Christmas tree pick up will happen separately, AND EARLIER from your normal trash/recycling collection. DPW strongly encourages all residents to put their Christmas Tree curbside the night before their regular day of trash collection. i.e. if your trash is normally picked up on Monday, we encourage residents to put the tree out at the end of their driveway on Sunday evening.

Helpful information:

  • Christmas trees will be picked up by the same type of truck as the recycling and trash. All live trees that are disposed of correctly will be taken to Cassidy Field in Medway for the animals to feed on.
  • The truck that is scheduled to pick up Christmas trees will circle around Medway much earlier than the times of normal trash/recycling collection. The truck will be around early morning, each day next week.  The reason for this separate trip is that Lawrence Waste Services will pick up fewer trees than they do waste/recycling collection, and consequently, the route will go much faster.  i.e. if a resident's normal trash/recycling pickup is at 2:00 p.m., the Christmas tree pick-up truck may be at your door at 9:00 a.m.
  • Christmas trees that are in bags, and are covered in tinsel or lights/ it are fake, etc., they will be put directly into the trash truck and incinerated to create energy at Wheelabrator. Please be aware that nothing goes to a landfill!
