Town Clerk

The Town Election will be held May 20, 2025 from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm at the Medway Middle School 45 Holliston Street Door 8.

Please note you can request an absentee ballot until 5pm on Tuesday May 13, 2025 and can absentee vote in person up until 12pm Monday May 19, 2025.  Please call us or email us with any questions regarding this information. Information about the election can be found HERE.

Mission Statement

The Town Clerk is the official keeper of the records for the Town of Medway.  The office handles the recording and preservation of records including:

  • Town By-laws
  • Minutes of Town Meetings and certification of votes (forwards certifications to the Attorney General's Office and Secretary of the Commonwealth for approval)
  • Vital records - Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates 
  • Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board filings - Twenty day appeal certificates
  • Dog Licensing
  • Non-Criminal Disposition
  • Raffle Permits

 

Persons wishing to marry in Massachusetts must file their intentions to marry with any Massachusetts City or Town Clerk in person (except for in cases where one person is in the military or incarcerated) at least three days before the ceremony, as there is a three day wait period before the license can be issued (please keep weekends and holidays in mind). In Medway, the cost of filing marriage intentions is .00 and .00 for a certified copy.  The license is valid for sixty days, and may be used for a ceremony conducted in any Massachusetts city or town. If you would like to utilize a Justice of the Peace listed below there is an additional fee for performing the ceremony. 

The Town of Medway has two active Justices of the Peace:

Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the Town Clerk on or before the fifth business day before an election.  (A voter who has been admitted to a healthcare facility within 1 week of the election, you may use the absentee ballot application to designate someone of your choice to deliver a ballot to you)
If the voter submits the application in person, they may obtain the ballot and vote over-the-counter.  The voter should first check with the office to see if the ballots are available.  If the ballot is not available, it will be sent to the voter by mail.  When the application is submittted in person by a family member, the ballot must be sent by mail to the voter.

The Clerk's office will have birth records of anyone whose parents lived in Medway at the time of the birth.  A certified copy of birth is .00.  A record can also be obtained where the birth occurred.

You can also request this certificate online HERE.  Once recieved, we will process and mail to you at the information provided in the request.

Whenever you are conducting a business under a name other than your own or the corporation's you must obtain a Business Certificate from the Town Clerk in the town where the business is located.  The business certificate is maintained in a public file and allows consumers to identify and locate the owner.  The filing fee is .00 and is good for four years.
