Mosquito Bite Prevention

West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis activity across Massachusetts is expected to continue until the first hard frost. The chance of acquiring a mosquito-borne disease in Massachusetts is rare, however, the Medway Health Department would like to remind residents of the best ways to prevent mosquito bites.

  • Use insect repellents.
  • Wear long-sleeved clothing.
  • Schedule outdoor activities to avoid the hours from dusk to dawn during peak mosquito season.
  • Repair damaged window and door screens.
  • Remove standing water from areas around your home.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) will continue surveillance activities in this region. You may find further information regarding mosquitos, risk maps, and where to request spraying using the link provided here: (https://medwayma.gov/mosquito-tick-information/).
