Earlier this week, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announced the second human case of West Nile Virus. As the summer progresses, we expect elevated West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis activity across Massachusetts. The Medway Board of Health wants to remind residents of the best ways to prevent mosquito bites.
- Use insect repellents.
- Wear long-sleeved clothing.
- Schedule outdoor activities to avoid the hours from dusk to dawn during peak mosquito season.
- Repair damaged window and door screens.
- Remove standing water from areas around your home.
Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) will continue enhanced surveillance activities in this region. You may find further information regarding mosquitoes, risk maps, and where to request spraying using the link provided here (Mosquito/ Tick Information).
