The Energy & Sustainability Committee Announces that the Plastic Bag Ban Bylaw goes into effect on January 27, 2020.
A brief history, the bylaw was approved at Town Meeting on 11/18/19. The plastic bag ban originally went into effect on 7/27/2020. Due to the pandemic, The Board of Health gave a six-month extension, in order to help businesses deplete their supplies. At its last meeting on January 25, 2021, the Board of Health voted to uphold the Bylaw as it is written, therefore banning the use of plastic bags effective on January 27, 2021.
