Construction efforts will continue this spring to replace the water mains on Maple Street and the Brentwood Neighborhood (Meryl, Robin & Richard) starting in April. Construction should last two to three months. Paving portions of the project will be in the fall of 2021, with the rest to be finished in 2022. This work will result in improved water flow and pressure in the area, more efficient operation of the system, and fewer rusty or discolored water occurrences. The Department of Public Works is managing this project. The construction contractors are Gravity Construction Inc. and KJS LLC. The engineer is Weston & Sampson Engineers, Inc. Weekly construction updates, maps, and Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the town website at www.medwayma.gov
PLEASE … BE CAREFUL We realize that this water main project will cause inconvenience for those who live and work in the area. We are working closely with the police department to keep traffic problems to a minimum and observe all safety precautions. All open excavations will be adequately safeguarded by providing steel plates, temporary barricades, caution signs, and lights, but Please … USE EXTRA CAUTION!
HOW WILL THIS WORK AFFECT YOU? While the work is in progress, residences and businesses along these roads will be inconvenienced by construction equipment and excavations in the street. However, the length of time you are without water is typically about 2 hours while your service is transferred from the old main to the new main. We will make every effort to ensure that your normal water service is maintained at all other times. As part of the project, homes and businesses will be connected to the temporary bypass water system. To do so, a hose will be connected to each customer’s hose connection (otherwise known as a sillcock) on the outside of your residence. Please ensure the sillcock is open and operable. Due to concerns involving COVID-19, every effort will be made to avoid entering your residence. However, if the contractor cannot connect you to the bypass water system from the exterior of your home, a town Water Department employee will need to access your basement to complete the connection. We will make connections during normal working hours from 7 am to 4 pm.
IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM or if you have questions or wish to report a problem, please contact the Department of Public Works at 508-533-3275. We will coordinate with Weston and Sampson representatives, working for the Town to assist with construction coordination, to resolve any issues. If you need an immediate after-hour response, you are advised to call the Medway Police Department at 508-533-3212, who will notify the Department of Public Works. For any concerns regarding mail delivery while work is being performed near your residence, please contact the local post office.
Thank you for your patience and consideration while this work is conducted to improve your water system.
