Celebrate Medway Day

Celebrate Medway Day

Event Date:

Saturday, July 15, 2017 - 2:00pm to 9:00pm

On Saturday, July 15, from 2- 9 p.m. at Choate Park and Thayer Homestead, the 5th Annual Celebrate Medway Day will take place.  The day is funded in part by the residents, as well as local businesses and clubs, including Medway Lions, Exelon Corp, Medway Cable Access, Middlesex Savings Bank and Charles River Bank. “This is a giveback to the town, so all the activities are free. “This is truly a day to celebrate Medway!” says Chair Carole Bernstein.

The event will feature activities for young and old alike. Popular features coming back this year include live music from Abandon Jack from 2:30-6, the remote control racetrack, a climbing wall and boating on the pond (boats supplied). There will also be bingo for all ages and art with Judy Moffat in the Thayer House, running at various times in the afternoon.

Kids will enjoy an array of games and fun things to do, such as pony rides, face painting, crafts, multiple bouncy houses including one with an obstacle course, balloon animals and coloring with Judy Moffat.

Just like last year, the old-fashioned community event will feature old-fashioned prices on refreshments, and there will even be a watermelon-eating contest at 4 p.m.

Don’t leave after having your refreshment, however. Bring a blanket and some bug spray, and stay to listen to a concert by the Newport Army Jazz Band at 7 p.m. Fireworks will follow over the pond after dusk.
