Medway Water Department has a long history of replacing lead pipes if it is encountered. We are always ‘looking for lead’ and unaware of any known lead pipes in the system. As part of a new EPA requirement, we’ve reviewed thousands of records to inventory older water service materials that may contain lead. So far, we’ve only found a handful – less than 1% -  which may be a potential lead source. We also have incomplete records for about 33% of the pipes. We have recently published an initial inventory and sent letters to customers with unknown or possible lead-containing services.
