Route 109 Re-opened After Gas Leak Closes Road for Nearly 6 Hours on Wednesday, July 26th

The damaged occurred on Main Street near Pond Street during the ongoing Massachusetts Department of Transportation Route 109 Transportation Improvement Project that began in 2016 and will continue through 2018.  There were no injuries.

Twenty structures were evacuated and forty structures were monitored and evaluated for gas leaks in the surrounding area.  Columbia Gas estimates that repairs will likely extend well into this evening.  Columbia Gas visited each of the twenty evacuated structures to relight pilots once repairs were completed.

The road is now open and construction continues in other areas of the construction route.
