Senior Emily Ertmann Receives Superintendent’s Award of Academic Excellence

Medway Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Armand Pires, has announced that senior Emily Ertmann is the 2017 recipient of the Superintendent’s Award of Academic Excellence.

This award is sponsored by the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents and is considered one of the highest honors conferred upon a high school student. The superintendent presents this award each fall to an exemplary senior who has consistently demonstrated leadership, involvement, social responsibility, and respect for fellow students in varied aspects of the school and community.

Dr. Pires presented this award to Emily at the December xx Medway School Committee meeting in the presence of her parents, Karen and John of Fairway Lane, and extended family members.

During her high school career, she has received the following academic awards and achievements:

  • Recipient of the 11th grade Math Award
  • Recipient of the 11th grade Chemistry Award
  • Recipient of the 11th grade Spanish Award
  • Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal and eligibility for $25,000/year Merit Scholarship if she attends Rensselaer
  • Commended Student by the National merit Scholarship Program for past performance on the PSAT/NMSQT
  • Captain of the Varsity Soccer team
  • Enrolled in honors and AP classes
  • Member of Peer Counseling, Student Government, SADD and Women in STEM

Emily is interested in Chemistry and Health Science with interest in attending medical school.
