The Administrative Assessing Assistant performs administrative and customer service support for the public, Principal, and Assistant Assessor. The essential functions of this full-time position include:
• Ability to work with databases and problem-solve. • Prepares and processes preliminary and actual bill processes from assessing system to financial system. Problem-solving and testing as necessary.
• Review, qualify, and input monthly sale and deed information.
• Reviews monthly budget expenditures and prepares for review.
• Review and qualify all tax deferral and tax-exempt applications, including reviewing confidential financial and personal information. Prepares for Principal Assessor and Board of Assessors (BOA) review.
• Prepares money and department cash turnover as needed. • Assists Principal and Assistant Assessor with various duties, such as inputting personal and real property information into a computer-assisted mass appraisal system (CAMA).
• Review, qualify, and process motor vehicle excise tax abatements.
• Provides property and map information to the public via public counter, telephone, or email. Explain and assist the public with forms and questions.
• Schedules and coordinates property inspections for staff as necessary.
• Prepares mailings and labels. Review incoming mail and applications for proper distribution/action. • Prepares annual exemptions and CPA forms for state reporting and Town reimbursement. • Prepares and approves abutter lists. • Review information guideline releases on exemptions for statute compliance. • Performs additional duties as directed.
